Governor Phil Scott on Wednesday called the shooting preventable, and joined Republicans in other states calling for a course correction on immigration enforcement to focus on those with criminal histories. Scott stopped short of calling for DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to step down, but he says if the Trump administration won’t make changes, he supports those lawmakers’ efforts. “If they don’t support that and they won’t change their ways, I would vote against it,” Scott said. At the Vermont Statehouse, top Democrats are planning on introducing a resolution decrying ICE operations in Minnesota and Maine. House Speaker Jill Krowinski, D-Burligngton says state lawmakers will be attending observation trainings if ICE sets up shop in Vermont.
