MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont leaders, including Republican Governor Phil Scott, are intensifying calls for changes to immigration enforcement in the wake of last week’s deadly shooting by federal agents in Minneapolis.
But at this point in time, it looked like a roundup to me,” Scott said.
Scott stopped short of calling for DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to step down, but he says if the Trump administration won’t make changes, he supports those lawmakers’ efforts.
“If they don’t support that and they won’t change their ways, I would vote against it,” Scott said.
House Speaker Jill Krowinski, D-Burligngton says state lawmakers will be attending observation trainings if ICE sets up shop in Vermont.
