Journalist Enrique Pastor Cruz Seeks Debate with Layda Sansores on Censorship in Campeche; Requests Airtime on Sansores’ weekly program and press conference known as “Jaguar Tuesday.”Journalist Enrique Cruz requested that the governor participate in this “democratic exercise in information.”On Tuesday, January 27, Enrique Pastor Cruz Carranza, a journalist from Campeche, requested that the governor of that state, Layda Sansores San Román, dedicate airtime on her “Jaguar Tuesday” program to discuss the issue of harassment and censorship prevalent in the state. “Through this peaceful and orderly channel, I respectfully request—based on the Constitutional Right of Petition in Article 8—that you allow me to dedicate space on your government program, “JAGUAR TUESDAY,” to conduct a democratic exercise in information sharing and openly debate with the people of Campeche the issues denounced in your eight-column front-page article this past Monday, January 26, in the national newspaper EL UNIVERSAL, as this is a matter of public interest for our entire society,” states the letter, which was received by members of the state governor’s office. Cruz Carranza requests that a date be scheduled “to analyze, in complete transparency, each of the points that, in your press release, you assert lack evidence to support the campaigns to exterminate the press and television stations, as well as the criteria for how the budget for disseminating government activities is used, who the beneficiaries are, and what the reasons are for marginalizing Free and Independent Journalists in Campeche.”He also requests that consideration be given to the presence of “the colleagues mentioned in the prestigious publication so that they may be present for the relevant purposes.”TYT Newsroom
