Follow us onSrinagar, Jan 28: An awareness programme was conducted today at Central Jail Srinagar by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar under the guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar Chairman DLSA (Pr. & Sessions Judge), Srinagar and overall supervision of Secretary DLSA, Srinagar to sensitize inmates about the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for premature release, parole and furlough, and the legal rights of prisoners. Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel highlighted the constitutional and legal rights of prisoners, including access to legal aid, humane treatment, and the right to seek redressal through appropriate legal forums. The inmates were encouraged to avail free legal services provided by DLSA Srinagar. The programme was organized as part of DLSA Srinagar’s ongoing efforts to ensure access to justice for all, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized sections of society, including prisoners.
