After a hot and dry weekend, Gauteng residents have experienced a return of afternoon thunderstorms this week. From Tuesday, several parts of the province were hit by isolated thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening. A 30% to 60% chance of rain is expected, with isolated thunderstorms likely to develop later in the afternoon. Pretoria is also set for afternoon thunderstorms. Beyond Gauteng, the SA Weather Service has warned that the Free State, North West, Mpumalanga, and western KwaZulu-Natal could also experience possible afternoon thunderstorms.
