AdvertisementA committee of the Utah State Legislature is reported to be considering a bill that would outlaw "gender-affirming care" for minors in that state. The Utah House Health and Human Services Committee heard comments Tuesday for and against a ban on gender-changing procedures for minors. HB 174 would also require health care professionals to initiate treatment plans for minors that want to end cross-sex hormones or puberty blockers. Added note: We should note that, according to the Human Rights Campaign, a pro-LGBTQ+ group, 27 states have already banned gender-affirming care for minors. Also, the Supreme Court case, United States v. Skrmetti, has upheld a Tennessee state ban on transgender treatment for minors.
