ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A woman accused of stealing wheelchairs from a local nonprofit faced a judge for the first time on Wednesday.
Police say she is one of three suspects involved in stealing $200,000 worth of equipment from the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation in March 2025.
Two men were caught on video stealing the wheelchairs.
They say Chavez left her ID and the wheelchairs behind when the employee became suspicious.
Two men accused in the case, James Lucero and Abel Baca, were arrested in November.
