The U.S. Coast Guard station in Detroit covers the southern part of Lake Huron, Lake Erie, the St. Clair River and a segment of the St. Lawrence Seaway, Lt. Cristina Silva of the Detroit station told The Spectator. The relationship is particularly helpful in the event U.S. Coast Guard spots someone in danger on the Canadian side while flying over.
