The Deschutes County Commission adopted the code unanimously by emergency order during a meeting on Wednesday. The coalition includes about 80 rural and urban communities in Deschutes County working to become safer from wildfire. A wildfire planning group assembled by Deschutes County recommended adopting codes for wildfire resilience in 2020. She said she anticipates they will follow suit with Deschutes County. The sooner wildfire codes are adopted, the fewer homes that will need to be retrofitted later on, she said.
