Ian Cranston’s 10-day new trial is set to begin Oct. 20 in Deschutes County Circuit Court, as decided in a Wednesday hearing. Cranston, released from Deschutes County Jail on bail earlier this month, appeared via video. A trial readiness hearing was set for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 21. After serving four years of a 10-year sentence, Cranston will have a new trial after the Oregon Court of Appeals reversed his conviction, ruling that the court failed to properly inform the jury about Oregon self-defense law during the original trial.
