In my closet rests a collection of okra seeds in a large mason jar. Okra seeds are pretty common, and you could find them in just about any feed store or garden shop in the South. The strings would callous your inner palms unless you wore gloves, though I’m told hay used to be secured by wire, which sounds less fun. Our hay man told me that one variety was Clemson Spineless (a very common variety). While our hay man later told me catalogues might still have it, what I recalled at the time was him telling me stores no longer had it.
