The Confederation of African Football (CAF) said on Tuesday that the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Morocco set a new global standard in generating a record six billion digital views across social media platforms during the tournament. CAF said AFCON Morocco 2025 became the most-viewed continental football competition in history, producing 5.2 billion video views and highlighting the tournament’s growing global reach and the strong engagement of African football fans worldwide. TikTok emerged as the leading platform for the tournament’s digital activity, with fans creating more than one million videos under the hashtag #TotalEnergiesAFCON2025. CAF said the surge in fan-generated content had helped the competition reach younger and more diverse audiences and strengthened direct connections between players, teams, and supporters. The football body said the digital performance of AFCON 2025 reflected its commitment to innovation, fan engagement, and global growth, adding that the tournament had set a new standard for how African football is experienced, shared, and celebrated worldwide.
