“The Testament of Ann Lee” is unlike anything I’ve seen before. Seyfried may have sunk further into a character than I’ve ever seen in her career in her portrayal of Ann Lee. Near the midpoint of the film, there’s an extended sequence in which Ann Lee leads her dwindling disciples on a journey across the Atlantic to the New World. I came away completely enraptured with “The Testament of Ann Lee,” as a lover of historical drama and large scale cinematic spectacle. “The Testament of Ann Lee” is now playing at FilmScene.
