Energy minister Michael Shanks is set to appear in Aberdeen to chair the first meeting of a board that aims to support the North Sea’s energy transition and its workforce. In February 2025, the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) and Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) set up the North Sea Transition Taskforce. Additionally, Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University has reported that a further 29,000 offshore jobs could be lost by 2030 if the energy transition is not managed appropriately.
