The Vacaville City Council updated its policy regarding the review, screening, and interview process conducted by the mayor for city commissions at Tuesday evening’s meeting. City Attorney Andria Borba said the city currently has two commissions established in the Municipal Code: the Planning Commission and the Parks and Recreation Commission, formally known as the Community Services Commission. She said staff identified an oversight in the policy and also heard concerns about the policy from councilmembers. The updates will create an Applicant Review Committee appointed by the mayor that will include two councilmembers, the director of the department that staffs the commission and two community members. That subcommittee will review all applicants, hold interviews and rank them for the mayor.
