Ashley Sofilkanich paint presence fulfills gap in Michigan starters

Junior forward Ashley Sofilkanich has been a starter since her first game with the No.
A much-needed 6-foot-3 body in the paint, Sofilkanich joined as an immediate physical presence.
Although she’s officially fouled out just twice, early foul trouble frequently sent her to the bench shortly after tipoff — limiting her rhythm and her visibility within the offense.
“Ashley got in foul trouble early in the first quarter,” Michigan coach Kim Barnes Arico said Nov. 9.
Sofilkanich’s role in Michigan’s rotation is reflected in high-pressure moments that rely on intense offensive structure and awareness in the paint.
