Former fire marshal facing two new charges

Former Liberty County Fire Marshal William Hergemueller is now facing two additional criminal charges related to alleged violations of Texas motor fuel tax laws. A third charge, tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, was no billed by the grand jury. At the time, he was serving as Liberty County fire marshal and chief of the South Liberty County Hazardous Materials Team. The theft charge against Holcomb is tied to the same auto parts cited in Hergemueller’s theft case. All three men are no longer employed by Liberty County and were terminated in early 2025.
