An official said that the Chief Minister has commended the efforts of the district administrations for significant improvement in the implementation of flagship schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) during 2025–26. ADVERTISEMENTUnder the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, aimed at promoting universal access to banking facilities, 1,26,803 new accounts were opened in the first three quarters of the fiscal. They said under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), which provides accidental insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh at a nominal premium of Rs 20 per year, 5,42,675 additional individuals were enrolled. “This pushed the total number of subscribers from 23,56,858 in March 2025 to 29,12,830 in December 2025. Of the 2.49 lakh pensioners in J&K, 2.37 lakh have completed life certification, and 1.16 lakh (49%) opted for digital submission.
