Alabama lawmaker ‘optimistic’ about new effort to pass bill on 2025 Trump executive order

A bill to endorse President Donald Trump’s 2025 executive order changing the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America has been brought forth for the second year by state Rep. David Standridge, R-Hayden.
The bill failed last legislative session in the Senate Committee on County and Municipal Government after it was passed by the House.
“It’s always an unknown in the legislature because other things happen, but I’m optimistic that there’s support for it,” he said.
“I think the issue is important because there is some confusion, especially when you buy materials, there’s things that have to do with our parks and other documentation, maps and things like that,” he said.
“And there’s some confusion about which one needs to be purchased, which name needs to be on the materials.
