The Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region has destroyed a large quantity of seized narcotic substances as part of efforts to clamp down on the illegal drug trade in the country. Officials said the move is intended to prevent the drugs from finding their way back into circulation and to send a strong warning to individuals involved in drug trafficking and abuse. The Police noted that the Narcotics Division will continue with intelligence-led operations to arrest suspects, seize illicit drugs, and ensure that offenders are dealt with according to the law. We will pursue and arrest them wherever they operate, and they will be made to face the law,” the Ashanti Regional Drug Law Enforcement Unit Commander, Superintendent Frazer Nutakor, cautioned. The Ghana Police Service also reiterated its commitment to protecting public health and safety, particularly among the youth, through sustained enforcement and public education.
