Accra, GhanaThe Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has expressed strong disapproval of the government’s unilateral decision to implement a local cargo insurance directive without adequate consultation with stakeholders. GUTA warned that penalising businesses for not insuring locally is unfair, especially when local insurance providers may lack sufficient capacity or experience to handle such responsibilities effectively. The association has called on the National Insurance Commission and other relevant authorities to halt the directive’s implementation and engage stakeholders meaningfully to address these concerns.
