Jimmy Sands, who witnessed the Challenger explosion live, reflected on the moment. Andy Raab, now a “mission commander” at a learning center, also witnessed the explosion. Sands and Raab were teenagers at the time of the disaster. As a tribute to the astronauts who died, the learning center hosts simulated missions to Mars to educate students about space exploration.
