The Mesquite City Council voted to approve the appointment on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Chief Fails has served as the Interim Chief of Police for the past fourteen months, where his dedication and leadership have been instrumental in guiding the department. Chief Fails has garnered overwhelming support from the department, city leadership, and the community.
