DeWitt, N.Y. — New York state regulators plan to visit the Central New York SPCA after receiving complaints about the animal shelter, officials said Wednesday. The shelter, which currently has about 60 animals inside, is licensed by the state Department of Agriculture and Markets. About a dozen shelter employees and volunteers protested in front of the shelter Tuesday, calling for a change in leadership. The protesters said the nonprofit’s board of directors has allowed for animals to be neglected and called on them to resign. The animal shelter has faced difficulties in the past.
