DeWitt, N.Y. — The eight board members of the Central New York SPCA announced Wednesday afternoon that they were all resigning after employees walked out in protest earlier this week. The board is seeking a “full leadership reset” by the end of next month, according to a message sent to shelter employees Wednesday that was obtained by syracuse.com | The Post-Standard. About a dozen shelter employees and volunteers protested Tuesday in front of the shelter at 5878 E. Molloy Road in DeWitt, calling for a change in leadership. The protesters said the nonprofit’s board has allowed animals to be neglected and called on them to resign. The shelter, which currently has about 60 animals inside, is licensed by the state Department of Agriculture and Markets.
