Fetterman’s words indicate he is far from the progressive Democrat he represented himself as on the campaign trail. Likewise, his voting record doesn’t back the perception from some in his own party that he’s a Republican masquerading as a Democrat, either. Voting for Donald Trump in 2024, Pennsylvania supported immigration reform. Either way, Fetterman might be onto something from which other elected officials around the nation could learn. A measured approach to issues like immigration enforcement and government funding might provide the best path forward for the state and the nation.
