She hopes the local specimens get community members excited about the unique geologic landscape in which they live. “This is one of the best places in the world for paleontology,” Lessner said. “It’s really hard for me to do my recreational activities without thinking about paleontology,” Lessner said. Though Lessner makes some fossil discoveries herself, she greatly appreciates the support of community members who visit different areas than the ones she frequents. The Utah Friends of Paleontology encourages all community members to attend this free public event.
