Philip Davis announced phase one of the Grand Bahama International Airport development project at a press briefing held following a cabinet meeting on Grand Bahama on Tuesday. Mr. Davis said, “the government has mobilized Polycon, the construction company carrying out works for the Grand Bahama International Airport and Polycon has engaged Bahamas Hot Mix to commence on site preparation works. The airport received extensive damage during the passage of Hurricane Dorian in 2019 and has remained in a state of disrepair since that time. According to the Prime Minister phase one of the project will cost more than $100 million. “Impact assessments, geotechnical studies and flood mitigation surveys are currently being finalized to ensure the airport is built with long term resilience in mind,” Mr. Davis said.
