North East police forces to receive 'record' funding increase to help boost number of officers on the streetsEach police force across the country is set to receive a real-terms increase in funding next yearView 2 Images Northumbria Police HQ (Image: Chronicle Live)Police forces in the North East will receive increased funding to help boost the number of neighbourhood officers on the streets. ‌Northumbria Police will receive £440.3 million, a cash increase of 4.3%, and Durham Constabulary will get £186.9 million, a cash increase of 4.8%. ‌The £18.4 billion funding includes an additional £50 million to help deliver the government's Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee. The Government has also pledged to put 3,000 officers into neighbourhood roles within 12 months. We are restoring neighbourhood policing, with nearly 2,400 more neighbourhood officers in our communities.
