An arrest warrant was issued today for a Carthage man charged with statutory sodomy and child molestation. The probable cause statement, which was filed in Jasper County Circuit Court, alleges 44-year-old Juan Jose Tamayo sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl. The probable cause statement indicates Tamayo and a woman described as a "paramour" haven't cooperated with investigators and haven't been at home since September. The paramour "has a daughter the same age as the victim," according to the statement. She recounted a time when the defendant performed deviant sexual intercourse with her in the suspect's home.
