Biologist Tamara Enz considers the eastern portion of Oregon and Washington among her favorite places. That’s why she set out to write “Birds of Washington and Oregon, The East Side,” part of a series of pocket-sized birding books by Timber Press that includes the coasts of Washington and Oregon and the Cascade Range. The book helps readers identify more than 100 of the most commonly found birds in Eastern Oregon and Washington, a region which balances the contradiction of being a desert with tremendous water resources.
