Bill would clarify terms and conditions of measure passed during 2025 sessionBOISE — The Idaho Senate Resources & Environment Committee on Jan. 26 advanced a proposal to amend a 2025 law that places limitations on domestic wells in residential subdivisions.
The committee voted to send Senate Bill 1222 to the full Senate with a do-pass recommendation.
Last year’s Senate Bill 1083a, which passed after amendment, modified requirements for establishing a water right for domestic purposes without applying to the Idaho Department of Water resources for a permit, according to IDWR.
The bill clarifies that the 2025 law’s limitations and amendments apply only to subdivisions with final applications filed on or after July 1, 2025.
The new bill also provides additional amendments to improve readability, according to its purpose statement.
