Ferry services between the Spanish ports of Algeciras and Tarifa and Tangier were suspended on Wednesday due to adverse weather caused by Storm Kristin, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
In Tarifa, disruptions have persisted for eight consecutive days due to ongoing bad weather in the area.
Freight traffic has also been severely affected at Algeciras port, where truck access is closed because of overcrowded parking areas.
Approximately 2,800 trucks are currently stranded within the port, occupying designated parking zones and internal traffic lanes.
Authorities also reported that high winds and rough seas have halted operations at the port’s container terminals, further disrupting maritime and cargo activities.
