The Northwest Youth Corps is recruiting ages 19 to 26 to do wildfire risk reduction work in Eastern Oregon for 12 weeks starting Feb. 23, 2026. The organization is assembling a crew for a 12-week program, based in Pendleton, that starts Feb. 23 and continues through May 15. The crew will consist of six members, and there are openings for a crew leader and an assistant crew leader, said Sarah Worthington, who works with the Northwest Youth Corps Community Wildfire Protection Corps. The assistant crew leader can earn about $12,700. Worthington said she hopes to recruit workers who live in Eastern Oregon so they can return home during their four-day off periods.
