Resolution on the Escalating Repression in Cuba and Its International Implications
[]
International Democracy Union
Endorsed by the National Alliance, LatviaDecember 5th, Washington DCThe International Democracy Union expresses profound concern over the ongoing deterioration of human rights and political freedoms in Cuba.
According to Human Rights Watch and Freedom House, as of 2025, Cuba detains over 1,100 political prisoners, including peaceful protesters, journalists, and activists, many subjected to inhumane conditions.
Despite promises of releases following talks with the Vatican and American announcements, credible sources, including Amnesty International and Justicia 11J, report that actual releases remain inconsistent, incomplete, and marred by irregularities.
Cuba’s government denies direct involvement but continues to obstruct investigations and provide diplomatic cover for Moscow at international forums.
The regime’s close alignment with Russia further undermines regional stability and international law.
