An update to Environment Canada’s special weather statement for our area. The weather agency says a low pressure system is expected to bring upwards of 10-20 mm of rain through Friday afternoon with a chance of thunderstorms. Officials also say the frozen ground will have a limited ability to absorb the rainfall and snow melt – with localized ponding on roadways possible. They also say tonight (Fri), temperatures will fall below freezing, creating icy and slippery conditions. Meantime, student transportation officials say all buses are cancelled across all weather corridors today (Friday, Jan. 9).
