A deep freeze is on the way and it might be sticking around for a while. Environment Canada is calling for some of the coldest weather we’ve seen this winter this weekend with the daytime high on Saturday topping out at -17 and the night time low dropping down to a frigid low of -27. Senior Climatologist Dave Phillips says we are at the halfway mark of winter which brings with it some of the coldest weather although he notes that it isn’t record breaking. This cold is going to be intensely cold but the duration is really maybe what’s going to be more concerning.”Cold weather can also worsen existing health conditions. Health risks are highest for people experiencing homelessness, older adults, infants and children and for people who work or enjoy outdoor recreation.
