North Hastings High School has been completing repairs on their heating system, which broke down this past weekend due to extreme cold conditions. Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board Superintendent of Business Services Bryce Wilson said the temperature caused a problem with the propane supply, and the school had to be closed down on Monday for repairs. Wilson said there is still an issue in a few classrooms that have pipes set along the exterior walls, which froze up. In the meantime, the school has reopened and final student assessments are continuing on a revised schedule. He added that larger-scale projects are more ideal to complete in the summer when the building is not in use and the heating is not needed.
