The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is contributing $2-million towards a sports dome on the Northern College Timmins campus. Making the announcement, Timmins MPP George Pirie said the dome and its wide range of sports and activity features will help attract students as well as professionals as the city population grows. College president Mitch Dumas says preparing for regional growth also requires thoughtful investments that support quality of life, community well-being and sustainability. “For Northern College, this project further strengthens our role as a true community partner. The city of Timmins is kicking in $500,000 towards construction.
