County of Haliburton council will be discussing the potential purchase of two new ambulances at their regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 28. According to staff, due to the approximate 14 month delivery timeframe, they are seeking pre-budget approval from council. One vehicle is part of the approved 2026 budget, while the purchase of the second ambulance requires pre-approval for the 2027 budget. According to County officials, the current guidelines recommend ambulances be replaced every four to five years, or every 250,000-300,000 km. Based on this, there is an immediate need, as one County ambulance is a 2020 with 366,000 km.
