Islamabad is preparing to step into a new era of eco-friendly urban mobility as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) moves forward with plans to introduce a modern electric tram system in the federal capital.
A high-level meeting was held at CDA Headquarters on Wednesday, chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, to review progress on electric tram and e-bus initiatives.
According to CDA officials, the electric tram project will include state of the art depots, parking areas, charging stations, and maintenance facilities.
The system will operate under a modern Intelligent Transport System (ITS), ensuring smooth operations, safety, and efficiency.
The proposed electric tram, alongside ongoing e-bus projects, reflects the government’s broader shift toward green mobility and climate-friendly urban planning.
