Ponguleti Says Disaster Management to Be Modernised With ₹100 Crore

He disclosed that the government had decided to procure state-of-the-art equipment worth ₹100 crore to enhance preparedness and response capabilities against any kind of disaster.
Ponguleti announced that a world-class Disaster Management Training Centre will be set up at the state-level to provide continuous and specialised training to personnel working in the department.
In this regard, he recalled an incident in 2024 in his Palair constituency, where rescue operations got hampered due to the absence of an effective airlift system.
He proposed the purchase of 77 high-speed boats for flood rescue operations.
Those who attended the meeting included special chief secretary (Disaster Management) Arvind Kumar, Fire Services director Vikraman Singh, HYDRAA commissioner Ranganath, and ICCC director Kamal Hasan Reddy.
