Jammu Tawi, Jan 28: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has constituted district level monitoring committees in all districts of the Union Territory to ensure implementation, conduct inspections, and receive complaints concerning mental health protection and prevention of suicides by students across educational institutions.
This order follows directions from the Supreme Court of India.
Pertinently, the Apex Court’s judgment in Sukdeb Saha vs.
6378/2024) laid down nationwide, binding guidelines aimed at protecting student mental health and preventing suicides across all educational settings.
These directions are treated as law declared by the Supreme Court and remain in force until proper legislation is enacted.
