Today’s Valentino couture show began, appropriately enough, with a voiceover from the late Valentino Garavani, taken from Matt Tyrnauer’s documentary The Last Emperor. The designer was speaking about his love of Old Hollywood and how going to the movies with his sister helped inspire his career in fashion. Michele’s spring 2026 couture collection felt as if his eccentric contessas had made their way across the Atlantic to audition for Mr. DeMille.
