MUSKEGON, MI – A mother charged with murder is headed to trial for a drunken driving crash in rural Muskegon County that killed her 6-year-old daughter. Instead, the 37-year-old woman waived her preliminary examination and was bound over to Muskegon County Circuit Court to stand trial. The two felony charges stem from a drunken driving crash that killed 6-year-old Mila Rae Saldana. In October, Muskegon County prosecutors initially charged Saldana with operating under the influence or impaired causing death and reckless driving causing death. About a month later, prosecutors dismissed that case and filed charges of second-degree murder and operating with high BAC causing death.
