GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- A West Michigan prosecutor has authorized charges of embezzlement against an attorney entangled in an ethics violation allegation against state Attorney General Dana Nessel. Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker confirmed Tuesday, Jan. 28 that three felony charges have been authorized against Belmont attorney Traci Michele Kornak. Kornak is a former Michigan Democratic Party treasurer who was part of Nessel’s transition team after Nessel was elected in 2018. Kornak believed the case was already closed and Nessel then asked her staff how Kornak could get the file. Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker on Tuesday said that charges had been authorized.
