LEONI TWP., MI – A man accused of fatally shooting his mother then his neighbor has been found not guilty by reason of insanity. Roger Schweda’s mother, Shari Schweda, 70, and his neighbor, Thomas Farnsworth, 57, were found fatally shot Dec. 7, 2024, at Schweda’s Leoni Township home on Welch Lake Road, according to the Blackman-Leoni Public Safety Department. Suspecting Shari Schweda’s car was missing from the scene, authorities entered its information into the Flock license plate reading camera system as possibly stolen, police said. Roger Schweda made unusual statements during interviews with police and psychologists, court records show. Roger Schweda will remain in the Center for Forensic Psychiatry until he is deemed fit to be released.
