According to local elders, this money, meant for the temporary displacement and rehabilitation of affected families, has allegedly been misappropriated by the provincial government and PTI leaders. Local elders have again confirmed that the demand for displacement was never made by the security forces. This option was chosen by the local elders themselves. On December 17, 2025, a Jirga comprising 26 notables met the Khyber district administration and presented their demands regarding displacement. On December 31, 2025, the Jirga met the Chief Secretary, where the displacement mechanism was finalized and the Jirga’s demands were accepted.
