The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) has welcomed the government’s $6B sport budget for 2026, describing it as a “strong platform” for international competitiveness.
The endorsement follows the unveiling of the national budget on Monday, which sees a significant pivot toward athlete development and coaching as major infrastructure projects near completion.
A key highlight for the association is the progress of a new, dedicated badminton and table tennis facility, which is nearing completion.
“Budget 2026 provides a platform to build on recent gains and support the long-term sustainability of the sport,” the GBA said in a statement.
The association expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, reaffirming its readiness to collaborate on the “lasting impact” of the government’s strategy.
