The applicants behind a proposed childcare in Mt Pleasant, which has been criticised for being too big, say it is not possible to reduce its capacity. Element Advisory is seeking approval from the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel to build a $3.5 million childcare centre at 34-36 St Michael Terrace in Mt Pleasant. It would be on a vacant site on the corner of Queens Road and St Michael Terrace and directly opposite Mt Pleasant Primary School. The revised proposal has a new design for the fencing and new waste management plan, but its capacity has not changed. The DAP was told at its October meeting the proposed centre would be the second largest in the City of Melville and one of the top eight largest in the metropolitan area.
